We've pulled in a few favours from our mate Charleene Klein to use her in our new music video. Enjoy! And expect to be seeing a lot more of this kind of thing in the future.

The Cast of My Story Book
I'm currently redrafting my script but I think it is very funny myself. I've been drawing these characters for years so I got a really good grasp on their personalities.
The image above was inspired by a similar diagram in 'Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Sadness' and won't feature in the book at all. It was actually for my benefit as there are a lot of characters in this book and I wanted to just draw them all on the same page.
I don't know when this thing will be started. It is a project I am pretty keen on doing. So maybe I will if there is enough interest.

My Super Sweet 16 (feat. Charleene Klein)
By Hamish Steele and Jonny Vaughan
Click above and listen to a song me (Hamish Steele) and him (Jonny Vaughan) plus her (Charleene) recorded one lazy, summer afternoon.
Depicting the tradegy of modern teenage life, our song tells the story of Charleene on her traumatic Sweet Sixteen - when she didn't get the colour car she wanted.
So put on your crocks, take off your stupid, big sunglasses and get ready for the thumping, pumping mega mix of 'My Super Sweet 16 (feat. Charleene Klein)' by Jon & Mish.
(NOTE: It also features the kind voice of Mrs. Klein)

REVIEW - Summer Heights High
By Hamish Steele
COMEDY REVIEW
Like many of its viewers, I 'discovered' 'Summer Heights High' midway through its run and caught up with the earlier episodes later on. Therefore, I only recently became aware of one of the show's major strengths.
Not only are the characters created by Chris Lilley completely three dimensional but their stories evolve throughout the series perfectly and by the end you are really feeling for each of them (whatever that feeling may be).
Greg Gregson (or as he insists that the pupils call him 'Mr. G') is the drama teacher. Lilley perfectly captures the character we all grew up with, without going overboard... at least not until the grand opening night of the horrendously brilliant musical based on himself. His best scenes are easily those involving the other teachers, from him threatening those in the staff room with court action if they touch his mugs to his arguments with the headmistress.
Strangely though, the most likable of all these modern monsters is the most foul-mothered, perverted and threatening. Jonah Takalua, despite being the absolute epitome of all that is wrong with the youth of today is surprising the character the audience feels the most sympathy for. By the final episode we're totally on his side and see his nemesis Ms. Wheatley with same anger he does. Also, he is probably the most fun to imitate - something I'm sure teachers all around the world are dreading when term starts again. But who cares when "Those homos can't break dance for shit!"
Chris Lilley isn't the only person putting in a great performance though. The above mentioned Ms. Wheatley is perfect as the young, female bitchy teacher we've all had to deal with at school. The headmistress is completly believable too, so is Mr. G's only teacher friend in the school (but I can't remember his name - gah!). However the best supporting actor is Jonah's father Rocky who performs with a subdued but sinister mumble that cuts through every scene he's in.
It isn't perfect though. Sometimes the balance of the three characters isn't what it should be and some episodes are far funnier than others. Also, I almost think the best stuff is used up at the start of the series and slowly gets less funny as it goes on (or maybe it just gets a little repetitive). The characters are so finely crafter that nothing they do is surprising. While this means they never do something out of character, the 'shock' moments are few and far between. If you watch too many in a row, you become so used to the characters that you almost drown out their dialogue and forget it is a comedy show because you become so accepting of their quirks. However, it certainly is worth watching if you've ever been to school and I look forward to the showing of Lilley's earlier show on FX next week.

This is the Spuniverse
By Hamish Steele
Welcome to my blog. This is the mandatory 'first post'. I don't know I feel like I can't just stand writing proper posts without an introduction - I guess that's just the way I've been brought up.
Mind you, some people I've met have made terrible first impressions. I've always been taught to be myself - although because I'm always putting on 'funny' voices, doing impressions or strange characters that can sometimes be a little confusing. I suppose I don't really know who I am (does anyone know who they are?). And this blog isn't a journey to find myself because if I know one thing about myself it's that that really doesn't appeal to me.
Some people on the other had make a very poor effort on giving a good first impression. In the cinema yesterday, the in front of me not only was constantly on his phone which had a naked Miss Piggy as its wallpaper but he told his fidgeting daughter (or very, very young wife) to "Minge off!" Well, I suppose that's the kind of crowd you get at a matinée showing of 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer'.
This blog will be used for me to post whatever springs to mind. It will showcase my drawings, comics, comedy skits, songs and everything I make creatively. Occasionally, it shall be updated by some of 'characters' such as Charleene Klein the spoiled 'My Super Sweet 16' contestant, Chrissy Paige the 'larping' Anime devotee, Dominic Debris the self proclaimed 'Movie Maestro' and Mart Marshall the egotistical, unfunny comedian. I have other characters (ironic - I love doing character comedy but hate watching character comedy) and some other characters done by other people so you'll get to see them. I'll make it clear when we're in character - we've got some videos we're trying to put online (it's scary and hard to do).
We've got music from our band as well so stay tuned for that. And for everything else. And this post has gone on for too long.
